Fox Moves ‘Animation Domination High-Def’ Shows to Digital From Late-Nite

Fox is canceling its 11-month Animation Domination High-Def experiment in June and moving the existing shows from the Saturday night block to digital platforms, a network rep told TheWrap.

The network has also ordered two traditional half-hour shows from the ADHD studio, which will premiere in primetime in 2015.

Fox's brief foray into the young male skewing 12-minute animated format that Adult Swim began in July 2013, aired at 11 p.m. on Saturday, but never quite took hold with its intended audience.

A Fox spokeswoman said the ADHD block was designed to “incubate” new talent, and insists that the development of the two new primetime series is an indication of the experiment's success.

“We actually put our money where our mouth is, where we ordered two series that were incubated in that studio and are now going to primetime,” she said.

The last Saturday air date for current ADHD series will be June 28, which will then transition to online and digital platforms like Hulu.

Fox will likely air repeats of current and summer series in the 11 p.m. Saturday time period, the spokeswoman said, although the network is open to adding a variety or comedy show like “Mad TV” or “The Wanda Sykes Show” which have occupied that slot in the past.

The ADHD studio, which Fox owns, has more than 100 employees and six series currently in production, with the two additional half-hour programs in development.
