Celebrities are cooking up a storm in Dubai

Celebrity chefs have become ubiquitous viewing on our televisions these days, inspiring viewers around the world with masterful dishes and introducing them to the art of fine dining. As a result the names of the celebrity chefs have become a brand in their own right to such an extent that bookings to their restaurants are now made months in advance. With this success has come expansion and the Emirates has become fortunate enough to welcome hundreds of celebrity chefs from around the world. We’ve selected our favourites that have opened restaurants in hotels in Dubai. Maya by Richard Sandoval in Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa

Maya by Richard Sandoval Growing up in Mexico City Chef Sandoval gained his culinary skills from his grandmother, whom he joined in the kitchen every day while she prepared exquisite Mexican meals for the family. So we are indebted to her for teaching her grandson to master such delights and inspiring his imagination to create bolder dishes. The food in Maya – located in Le Royal Meridien – is exceptional, trust us when we say it’s high quality. Alongside a traditional menu that includes sizzling fajitas and the like are more audacious dishes such as mole pablano (chicken served in chocolate sauce). We braved it and opted for the chicken. It is a shock to the taste buds at first, but the flavours work together combining to make one very tasty meal. Options by Sanjeev Kapoor in World Trade Centre

Options by Sanjeev Kapoor If you are staying in the Novotel in the World Trade Centre in Jumeirah then Sanjeev Kapoor’s Options is a must. Kapoor is the most famous chef of Indian cuisine today and his restaurant offers a grand luxe interior with gold-framed mirrors and large chandeliers. Though perhaps some might say it’s a tad too glitzy it’s the food that everyone comes for and nobody leaves disappointed. The menu offers plenty of options (get it?), which suit everyone, including vegetarians. We went for the Malabar prawn curry, which packs a heated punch that’s just right. Rhodes Twenty10 in Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa

Rhodes Twenty10 by Gary Rhodes Renowned British chef Gary Rhodes’s restaurant has been labelled a steak house with a twist and Rhodes Twenty10 has certainly set the bar in the UAE. Staff are very attentive and on hand to explain the concept. Diners are encouraged to order several starters to share and then select a cut of meat each for their main, accompanied by various side dishes for the table. We’d recommend the Wagyu cut of beef; a little pricey but it’s cooked to absolute perfection. Ronda Locatelli in Atlantis The Palm

Ronda Locatelli by Giorgio Locatelli The wonderfully named Giorgio Locatelli brings his creative talent to Dubai where he’s set up base in Atlantis The Palm. Retaining that rich Italian history in gastronomy Ronda Locatelli is a very family-friendly restaurant. If it’s a classic pizza you want then may we suggest the pizza with pumpkin, mozzarella, burrata cheese and black winter truffle, the ingredients fuse together delightfully. Or if you’d prefer something more modern then try the roasted duck breast with black cabbage, cannellini beans and black winter truffle. In a word, yummy. Rostang, The French Brasserie in Atlantis The Palm

Rostang by Michel Rostang The Rostang name goes back generations in the world of gastronomy; Michel is the fifth generation to carry on the family name by flying the culinary flag and he’s done so internationally by opening a restaurant in Dubai in Atlantis The Palm. Staff are polite, greeting guests in French as they enter the restaurant, while the venue is classy and unpretentious. The food though is sublime. Replicating classic French bistro dishes we’d easily recommend the steaks, which are so mouth-wateringly moreish. If you fancy something a little lighter then consider another favourite of ours – moules-frites. The classic combo of mussels and fries go hand-in-hand like salt and pepper. Related links:
