While a lot has been said and written about the comfortable vibes that Arjun Kapoor shares with Alia Bhatt, one also catches the actor get a lot emotional and nostalgic about the love he got from his mother in real life. However when it comes to his on-screen parents (played by Ronit Roy and Amrita Singh) in his Friday release 2 STATES, Arjun admits that there is certain respect factor that comes in.

"Ronit has seen so much in life that he is a lot calm. He is a far superior actor and the ups and downs that he has seen in life have helped him. He is an intelligent human being and I realized while working with him that he doesn't take his stardom seriously. He is a very big star in his own way and is happy playing strong character. He is not bogged down by the facade of stardom," says Arjun.

With Amrita Singh, Arjun shared screen space for the second time in a span of one year. While in AURANGZEB he was in constant loggerheads with Amrita who played his father's (Jackie Shroff) mistress, in 2 STATES he finds himself being over protected by her playing his loving mother.

"I keep joking with Amrita that you were a villain there and now you are a mother, which is quite a contrast," laughs Arjun, "I guess that's the beauty of her; she can play two different characters so effortlessly. In a way, 2 STATES has her in a much tougher role. She couldn't afford to be a caricature while playing a loud mother-in-law; she had to make it all look believable. She has really exceeded everyone's expectations, so much so that you are bound to relate to her as an aunty next door."

She turned out to be a different on-screen mother than his own real life mother.

He says, "My mother was as possessive and proud in her own way, though she let me be the person who I was. She allowed me to make my choices as long as I didn't let her down."
