Akshay Kumar's 72 MILES - EK PRAVAS wins Best film Jury at Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival

After winning four National Awards this season, Viacom18 Motion Pictures ads yet another prestigious award to its kitty, but this time for its regional movie - 72 MILES- EK PRAVAS. Having won the best film- jury awards at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2014 held on 30th April, 2014 in Noida, Delhi NCR, 72 MILES- EK PRAVAS has beaten exciting films like KOAN OF SPRING (France), GABRIEL (Poland), RANJHANAA (India), IN NOMINEE SATAN (Italy) etc.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Ajit Andhare- COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures said, "Entering Regional market was a strategic decision for the studio. Winning this award makes us feel gratified that we have made an impact in the Marathi film industry that has such a rich heritage."

A hard-hitting, poignant tale of a young boy, who makes his journey into self-actualization against the backdrop of a rustic India, 72 MILES... explores a beautiful, coming of age journey for the 13-year-old boy Ashok and the companionable relationships he makes through his journey.

The nuanced film is directed by late Rajiv Patil and is based on Ashok Vatkar's autobiography. It is co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi's Grazing Goat Pictures.

Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival is a not-to-profit, non-commercial and India's only independent film festival, established in the year 2011 in Noida (Delhi NCR) with a mission to celebrate the cinema and work of aspiring, young, independent and professional filmmakers.
