JD capped off the initial phase of its Jack Daniel’s On Stage scouting gig with a showcase of indie bands at The Outpost Restobar in Lahug, Cebu City last month.

These bands have made a name for themselves in Cebu’s vibrant music community and got the extra push to get their music across to a wider audience.

Once more, JD tapped into its grassroots approach to discover new talents and extended its reach to Cebu, known to be one of Asia’s top havens for new music.

Blown away

Seven local bands, namely Shuffled, The Line Divides, FOC Fashion, Neverending Weekend, Dymphna, Drop Out Club, Gestalt, and S.T.I.F. performed at the scouting gig.

Said JD’s’ Vic Narciso, “I know Cebu is a breeding ground of fresh young talents. Still, I was blown away by the bands at the JD OnStage show. Each group played a different genre and if you consider they’re just the tip of the iceberg of the music community down South, I have to say the potential in Cebu is really huge.”

JD linked up with Cebu’s prominent independent music production outfits such as Skinny Buddha, Ricubus, Escape Artist, Crazymonkey and Rocket One to endorse the bands that played at the showcase.

PH reprezent

Cebu’s indie groups on-the-brink will go on to Manila to celebrate Pinoy indie music with other bands presented in JD Onstage scouting gigs late last year.

The act that emerges at the top of the heap will represent the Philippines at a Jack Daniel’s regional event in 2015.

In 2013, all-Pinoy band Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus rocked Cambodia to cap a JD sponsored campaign to break new markets for its products.
