Bollywood Beat: Who are the football mad stars that are buying into the Indian Super League?


While the UAE is gearing up for the IPL, imagine our excitement when we heard that Bollywood stars and cricketers are buying into – check this – the inaugural football Indian Super League!

Yep, footy fans in India can thank the likes of Salman Khan, John Abraham, Ranbir Kapoor, Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly for a possible kick-off in September this year.

Did you know by the way that Ranbir Kapoor and John Abraham are huge Barca fans? Ranbir can be spotted wearing the Catalan giants jersey while John counts Neymar as his favourite player. These two are expected to co-own the franchise to Mumbai and Guwahati respectively.

Kerala football fans are hoping cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar will bid for the franchise for Kochi while overall sports lover Salman Khan is expected to represent the Pune franchise during the tournament that will be based out of eight cities.

Former international stars such as Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Hernan Crespo, Fredrik Ljungberg, Dwight Yorke and Louis Saha are among those who have reportedly signed up to play in the Indian Super League.
