The Jacksons wants to invest in PH: source
The Jacksons’ latest Manila visit – their second after two decades – was only a few days long. But it was enough to make Jermaine, one of four siblings who performed last November 3 at Solaire Resort and Casino, think of investing in the Philippines.
Jermaine, who seals business deals in behalf of his musically-inclined family, gave his room number to the Solaire staff who went with him in the limousine that took him from the airport to the hotel. This way, the staff can coordinate with the owners of Solaire, who produced the concert, for initial talks.
Eureka moment
Jermaine had a eureka moment when the Solaire staff briefed him about the resort-casino.
“The Jacksons own a resort-hotel in the US (where they are based). They know the business inside out. The idea is to partner with Solaire,” the reliable source, who rode the limousine together with Jermaine and the hotel staff, told Yahoo Philippines.
It was Jermaine’s first time in Manila, but not for his brothers Jackie, Marlon and Tito, whose debut show in the country was way back in 1979.
Dance party
The brothers’ recent concert turned out to be a dance party with the crowd getting up on its feet and grooving to the beat of The Jacksons’ Motown hits like “ABC,” “I Found That Girl,” “I’ll Be There,” “I Want You Back” and “Rockin’ Robin.”
The Solaire ballroom turned into a hub of cheering and dancing when The Jacksons performed their late brother's iconic songs “Rock with You” and “Beat It.”
The group was a virtual time machine that brought its audience back to the 70s, when Motown reigned supreme and Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye became household names.
The Jacksons were in Manila as part of an Asian tour that took them to Jakarta and Hong Kong. One of its most memorable shows around the world was the 1984 Victory Tour which drew over 2.5 million people to stadiums in the US. Its worldwide Unity Tour in 2012 celebrated The Jacksons' hits as a long-running group.
