Miss Earth 2014: Miss Panama Maria De Lourdes Gallimore

What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?

Last year, I completed my college degree in Geographical and Ecological Tourism and am presently working with the Panamanian Bureau of Tourism. This gives me a unique opportunity to develop and present projects related to eco tourism.

Starting at primary school levels, my project is to organize one-day tours that, from an early age, will teach our children to treat nature with love and respect. An important step is to involve teachers so that they can retransmit the message. To date, some seminars on eco tourism are scheduled to be organized.

What tip can you share to promote this year's theme, Eco Tourism?

While visiting other countries, remember to appreciate the environment, participate in the preservation of other cultures, and assist in improving life for local communities.
