Jay R wants to be a Kapamilya

Now that his contract with GMA 7 has expired, people are wondering if  R&B singer Jay R’s frequent guest appearances in  many ABS-CBN shows --  “It’s Showtime,” “Gandang Gabi Vice,” “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” and “Kris TV”  --are a sign that he’s already a Kapamilya.

Asked to comment, Jay R replied, “I’m just going with the flow. Ngayon I’m a free agent. So I’m just exploring my new options.”

he singer-songwriter graced the purple carpet at the Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014  at the Mall of Asia Arena last Friday, July 18.  With him were the music artists of  Homeworkz, his own record label.

Spreading the music

While there are no negotiations yet, Jay R admitted that he does want to be a Kapamilya.

“They just gave me opportunity to guest on their shows. Hopefully, they like me or offer me something. Right now, I’m just being hopeful.”

Jay R is busy producing music and helping fellow R&B and hiphop artists, including Q-York, Kley and Salbakuta get the proper exposure. His single, “Parachute,” is doing well on the airwaves.

“I’m working on my music. I’m concentrating on producing music. Full force lang talaga ngayon sa music. I wanna spread the music. I will always go kung saan my opportunity to spread my music.”

Negotiations

Host Kris Aquino said in an episode of  “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” that Jay R  almost became a Kapamilya seven years ago and that negotiations in that direction have already started.  

“That was the whole business side na nangyari na medyo I let Arnold Vegafria (his manager) take care of. Kapag yung usapan na business, I stay away na. I take care of the creative side na lang,” Jay R explained.
