Heart Evangelista’s rift with mom Cecile Ongpauco, may not be over. But she’s not losing hope that they will patch things up the way she and her dad, Rey Ongpauco did.

“My mom and I have seen each other. I’m playing it by ear and taking it a day at a time,” Heart said after the premiere showing of her Viva movie, “My Trophy Wife” at SM Megamall last Tuesday, July 29.

It will be recalled that Heart and her mom had a falling out because the latter disapproved of Sen. Chiz Escudero as her boyfriend. Her dad initially frowned on the relationship as well, but has since relented.

Last December, Heart and her mom accidentally met in Makati, and the actress greeted her mother. But the meeting upset Heart because her mom rebuffed her.

Not talking

The actress-host obviously doesn’t want to bother her dad about the issue with her mom.

“My dad and I are not talking about it.”

But she’s not letting the family problem ruin her day.

Heart says she is content and couldn’t be happier.

“I hope good things will just continue happening in my life.”

Surprise for Chiz

Her boyfriend, Sen. Chiz Escudero, who has been supportive of her painting and showbiz career, knows she went a bit more daring in “My Trophy Wife.” Heart told him the story of the movie, where she plunging necklines and body-hugging minis. She delivered provocative lines in her confrontation scenes with Cristine Reyes, who plays the title role.

But Chiz hasn’t seen the movie yet. Heart says she plans to surprise him by taking him out on a movie date to “My Trophy Wife.”

The sex drama is a far cry from the Metro Filmfest movie “Sosi Problems,” which antedated “Trophy Wife.”

Light to heavy

Heart believes it’s nice to do heavy drama for a change after the light movie “Sosi Problems” last December.

“My Trophy Wife,” a story about love and betrayal, also stars Derek Ramsay, John Estrada, Jackie Lou Blanco and others. The movie, directed by Elwood Perez, is now showing in theaters nationwide.
