Derek has no advice to Kris on 'Mr. Bautista'

Derek Ramsay admitted he has been giving good friend Kris Aquino pieces of advice on life from “a guy’s point of view.”  But only he and Kris know just what these words of wisdom are.

Now that Kris has admitted she is taking a “second chance at forever” with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, Derek would rather keep his hands off the Kapamilya host’s  love life.

“I didn’t advise Kris on Mr. Bautista,” the Kapatid actor-host said minutes before signing a three-picture contract with Regal Entertainment on Thursday, April 10.

Shocked, hurt

Derek denies that Kris is using him by posting sweet  messages on social media their friendship. In fact, Derek is shocked and hurt that others have been accusing Kris of using him to draw attention to herself.

“Nakarating ako kung saan ako naroon ngayon through my own efforts. It hurts na lumalabas na parang ginagamit ako.”

The year 2014 looks very promising for Derek.  He admits having a quiet love life which he wants to keep that way.

Happy in love

“Masaya ang puso ko. And I wanna keep that part of me to myself.”

He promised that his love life won’t get in the way of his projects with Regal, especially if the movie requires him to go sexy the way he did in the blockbuster sexy drama “No Other Woman.”

“Work is work.”

One of the Regal babies he is looking forward to working with is Marian Rivera. Derek can’t have a TV project with her because she is a GMA 7 artist while he is with TV5.

So he is glad about the upcoming Regal movie with Marian.

“We talked for five minutes in New York. Marian is so down-to-earth and simple for someone of her stature,” Derek observed.

Another Regal Baby Derek wants to work with is Kris.  Regal Entertainment founder Mother Lily Monteverde and her daughter Roselle Monteverde, the film outfit’s CEO,  are all for this.

Other projects

But while his first project with Kris under Regal is still tentative, Derek is sure about a couple of things.  He will do an indie film for Cinemalaya and is slated to go to Brazil to cover the World Cup for TV5.  Derek is just as excited about his hosting job for “The Amazing Race Philippines,” where he will start work on come July.

He also hopes to get a new leading lady for an indie film on the Maguindanao Massacre after Kris had to back out due to a conflict of schedule.

As usual, Derek has no qualms working with anyone the production outfit pairs him off with.

Not choosy

"The reason why I have this sort of success is I am not choosy (with co-workers)," he states.

The other reason for his success is that he says what he means. When Derek issues a statement, it is for real -- no pluses and minuses.

That's why you believe him when he says Kris is just a family friend -- no more, no less.  Others believe him as well.
