Amy Perez, Marc Logan nervous about replacing Korina

Amy Perez and Marc Logan have big shoes to fill because their show has replaced “Rated Korina,” the radio program of broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez, who is on leave while focusing on her post-graduate studies.

Perez and Logan will host the new radio show “Sakto” on DZMM.

"We can never really fill the shoes of madam Korina," Marc said in a pocket interview at the ABS-CBN compound on Wednesday, January 22.

He added in jest, "Tsinelas niya na lang."

Amy also feels the pressure.

‘Give us a chance’

"Siyempre naman, kung may hihigit pa sa pressure cooker, ito ay kung saan kami nailagay ngayon, iyon ang pakiramdam namin. That’s why nga pinapaalala rin namin sa mga tao na bigyan din kami ng pagkakataon because ang offer namin ay iba naman from the format of Madam Korina."

Marc and Amy shared that their program is different from Korina's. They tackle social issues, family matters and human interest stories in a lighter manner.

Korina gave her blessings to Marc and Amy and hopes radio listeners will support them.

"Meron kaming narinig tungkol sa kanya na sinasabihan niya yung mga nagi-expect sa amin na 'Kaya naman nila Marc and Amy iyan.' Siya na rin ang nananawagan na 'Give them a chance,' na maging maaliwalas ang timeslot na iniwan niya," Marc said.

Encouraging words

Amy also got encouraging words from Korina, who wants to guest in the show if she has time.
"Kaya lang ang text nga niya sa akin, 'Malapit na akong awayin ng professors ko kasi ang dami na raw niyang absences sa school at kailangan na isubmit na projects. Ang oras na ito na oras ng radyo niya ay yung oras na kailangan siya sa school,"  Amy said.

After working in TV5, Amy returned to ABS-CBN late last year and started hosting "Singing BEe" and "Umagang Kay Ganda."

DZMM station manager Marah Capunan clarified rumors that Korina’s leave is an offshoot of the fact that she questioned the Yolanda coverage of CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.

Proof of studies

Capunan said Korina already asked for a leave of absence to take up further studies last July, or four months before Yolanda hit Tacloban and neighboring areas in the Visayas.

"Yung iba na nagtatanong kung meron ba talaga siyang schooling. Somebody from the news department can attest to that, si Chiara Zambrano, kasi classmate niya. Marami na nga raw absences (si Korina)," Marc said.
