Ai-Ai looks forward to kissing Richard Yap live
It’s but apt that comedienne Ai-Ai delas Alas is kicking off her 25th anniversary in showbiz with a concert that will feature actor Richard Yap, her partner in the hit TV series “My Binondo Girl” a few years back.
While Ai-Ai and Richard’s Binondo characters had a much talked-about kissing scene, their reunion project (“Ai Heart Papa: A Romantic Comedy Concert” on Thursday, February 12, 8 pm at Solaire Resort and Casino’s The Theatre), is repeating history by featuring a live kissing scene between them.
“I’m so excited kasi live na ang kissing scene dito!” exclaimed Ai-Ai during a recent chat with the press at The Food Club in Blue Bay Macapagal Avenue, Pasay City.
The gift
The humor shows Ai-Ai’s natural flare for punch lines.
“It’s a gift. Laki ako sa sing-along and natural na sa akin ito,” she said of her brand of comedy, which never puts down others just to extract laughter.
Do old clips of her less shining self -- when she was still the butt of jokes of the likes of Rene Requiestas – make her uncomfortable?
“Actually, nakakatuwa isipin na noon support lang ako. Tapos ngayon, thank you kay Lord, nagbida na ako. Masarap ang feeling na nakikita mo ang sarili mo how you were,” Ai Ai replied.
Comedy scene
The singer-comedienne-host observes that the current comedy scene “a little bit complicated.”
”Ngayon kasi madami nang ibang comedienne. Noon ako lang halos. Stick pa rin ako sa alam kong comedy kahit may mga instances na nagmumura na ang mga tao makapagpatawa lang.”
“Ai Heart Papa: A Romantic Comedy Concert” is presented by Showbiz Mansion Entertainment, is directed by GB Sampedro. It also features G-Force Dancers, Becky Belo, Club DJ David Ardiente, and belter Faith Cuneta.
Ai-Ai is set to have a major concert at the SM MOA Arena late this year.
