Yahoo News Ahana Deol Ties the Knot with Vaibhav Vohra
The younger daughter of Bollywood veterans Hema Malini and Dharmendra, Ahana Deol, finally took the plunge with fiancé Vaibhav Vora on February 2. Ahana met Vaibhav, a Delhi-based businessman, at sister Esha’s wedding about two years back.
Ahana, a trained Bharatnatyam and Odissi dancer, got engaged to Vaibhav in a low-key ceremony amidst close friends and family in Mumbai, in June last year. Her wedding announcement came as a pleasant surprise to everyone, especially coming so soon after Esha’s wedding.
Ahana was in the past rumoured to have been in a long-term relationship with actor Aditya Roy Kapur. Before this, she was allegedly dating actor Ranveer Singh.

A private mehendi ceremony was held at Hema’s bungalow on January 31, for which Dharmendra was not present. The sangeet, wedding and reception took place at the ITC Maratha hotel in Mumbai. The baraat proceeded from Hyatt Regency to the venue.

Ahana wore a blue lehenga for the mehendi, and a pale teal lehenga for the sangeet. The outfits were created by Neeta Lulla. Mother Hema also shared that most of the trousseau has been shopped from Jaipur, Mumbai and Chennai.

The guests included Bollywood stars Shahrukh Khan, Rekha, the Bachchans, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Juhi Chawla, Sonakshi Sinha among many others; music veterans Amjad Ali Khan, Asha Bhosale, Bappi Lahiri; political bigwigs Uddhav Thackeray and Amar Singh; and the Ambanis, to name a few. The star attraction however was Narendra Modi, who blessed the couple.

The wedding card design was conceptualised by the bride and groom, and has a spiritual touch to it with a vintage look. The card that was designed in Delhi, has been a topic of discussion, and had the 'Tree of Life' printed on it. The bride’s mother, Hema Malini, said, “It is a symbol of green and growth. The tree stands for protection. In our culture, the man symbolises the tree, and its branches and leaves are women and children.”

She further added, “My marriage happened very quietly and quickly. There was no time or occasion for a big ceremony. But now there is finally going to be a big fat Punjabi wedding in my family. From the Punjabi baraat to our doorstep, to a very Tamil welcome for the groom into the mandap; I am very excited.” The first half of the wedding was in the typical Punjabi style and the second half was according to Tamil rituals. Two pandits, one from the South and one from North, performed the rituals.

Esha was seen nursing a fractured arm, looking stunning nonetheless. Husband Bharat Takhtani was seen by her side throughout the event.

Ahana always wanted a Victorian-style wedding, and so it was. The wedding decor ressembled a Victorian garden. The open sky mandap had a royal vintage backdrop, with elements like peacocks, pale lavender flowers et al. Trellis of creepers and bougainvillea completed the garden with ancient Victorian stone structures. The gazebos had lovely tea-lights hanging to give a subtle, fairytale feel.
The grand reception in Delhi on February 5 was a splendid affair as well. Political bigwigs like LK Advani, Farooq Abdullah, Sushma Swaraj, among many others graced the occasion. Ahana wore a pale aquamarine gown and looked stunning.

Dharmendra got extremely emotional and broke down. He has always said that the youngest child always remains the baby of the family. He shared his feelings, “A daughter’s wedding is every parent’s responsibility. We don’t want to get rid of our daughters; it is painful, but has to be done.”

Brothers Sunny and Bobby, who did not attend Esha's wedding either, were missing. However, cousin Abhay was seen enjoying the activities, standing by the bride's side.
