Long jackets

The wedding season usually kicks off in winter, forcing brides to either compromise on their attires or cover themselves with shawls or to bear the winter chill with a smile in the name of fashion. Long jackets, which were introduced in the bridal fashion week this year, ensure that you don’t have to give up on fashion to stay warm.

These jackets, with intricate embroidery and beadwork, will add a new dimension to your sarees and lehengas. Another way to wear long jackets is to pair them up as poncho-style tops with interesting prints and fitted pants. These can be worn during your bachelorette party or for the mehendi ceremony.

When it comes to choosing the fabric for your long jacket, you can opt for velvet and silk. Both of them will look absolutely stunning, and keep you warm too.

A word of advice: Keep your outfit simple if your long jacket is heavily embellished.

Neon ghagras

Pastel coloured cholis paired with neon ghagras are the perfect look for your mehendi or sangeet. You can opt for chikan work on your choli and your ghagra can have a thick border of the same work. Neon ghaghras look traditional yet fashion forward.

Saree belt

No, we are not talking about a kamarbandh. We are talking about a beautifully embellished belt that can be worn around your waist with your pallu tucked neatly into it. If you are wearing a saree belt, keep your jewellery to the bare minimum, match the colour of the belt to your blouse and let it steal all the limelight.

The Indian cocktail dress

Instead of wearing the traditional lehenga or saree, you can opt to wear a cocktail dress with a desi twist. Heavy embroidery combined with a modern cut can make you look stunning at your wedding. Fishtail style full-length gowns and short dresses with traditional Indian embroidery can also be added to your bridal trousseau. These can be worn for your pre-wedding functions or reception.

Headwear

A dramatic headwear can add a unique touch to your attire. Floral headpieces or a golden matha patti can add a whole new dimension to your look. If you carry your headgear well, you can look really glamourous and different from all the other brides this wedding season.

Victorian designs

Chantilly and Victorian lace on ghaghras and cholis make them look simple and elegant. Keep the work on your dress simple and let the main focus be the delicate lace work. Victorian gowns, high frilly collars, sweeping floor length ghagras and use of muslin will add a royal touch to your trousseau. Corsets too are a rage this season and will make your ensemble look very regal.
