omg! NOW's exclusive interview with Omar - THAT "beautiful Emirati"

Our omg! NOW presenter, Jessica Kahawaty, has been having a cosy chat (via Skype) with Omar Borkan Al Gala, "the most beautiful Emirati".

Omar, who is currently in Vancouver, Canada, studying photography, gave Jessica the scoop on how it feels to become an overnight internet sensation.

A Dubai fashion photographer and actor, Omar was reportedly one of three Emirati men deported late last month from Saudi Arabia after being asked to leave the Jenadriyah cultural festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Reason: they were deemed "too handsome" to stay.

According to Arabic newspaper Elaph, a festival official said the three UAE nationals were taken out of the event because they were too handsome - and the Commission (for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices) police feared women visitors would fall for them.

IDOLS AND IDEALS

Since being unofficially named online as one of the three, Omar's Facebook fan base had shot up to 329,000 members and he has since been flooded with compliments about everything from his eyes to his voice.

And Omar says he loves the attention. He tells Jessica it's "amazing" to have become a star - and he gets recognised around his neighbourhood now.

Do fans post positive comments? "Mostly," he says. "I ignore the negative." And Omar's internet-savvy – he says he's very careful of what pictures he posts. "There is a lot of pressure to watch my moves and pictures that I post on the internet because after I post one, within 30 minutes it is all over the internet."

FILMS

The attention has paid off – Omar has been cast in a movie and is coming back to the UAE next month to shoot it.

One day, he hopes to act with Will Smith. But his favourite idol? Himself! And, he's quick to add, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai.

Omar is quite demanding when it comes to choosing his ideal girl. This handsome man is looking for a lady to match. "Most importantly, she has to be very beautiful," he insists, "and she should look after me."

SO there you are, ladies – Omar's officially single…
